Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal deal agreed, Ivan Toney to Chelsea, Liverpool splash £43m | Football | Sport
Chelsea have unveiled Mike Penders as their 12th signing of the summer.
The 19-year-old is viewed as one of the best young goalkeepers in world football.
Chelsea are understood to have paid Genk £17million before sending Penders back to his former club for the season ahead.
The signing will be officially completed next summer, when Penders will join a huge list of senior stoppers already at Stamford Bridge including Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Filip Jorgensen, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli and Gabriel Slonina.
Rather than a loan back to Genk, Penders’ agreement will see him hold off on formally signing for Chelsea until next summer, which frees up a loan spot for the Blues to use over the rest of the window.
