PS Plus September 2024 Quidditch Champions release date, time, games line-up and warning | Gaming | Entertainment

PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the release of the September 2024 free PS4 and PS5 games. The next batch of PS Plus Essentials have a September 3 release date and an estimated midday launch time for subscribers living in the UK. Of course, this also means that you have less than 24-hours to redeem the current crop of PlayStation Plus games, which include LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. While the August games aren’t the best, LEGO Star Wars is a genuinely entertaining game and Ender Lilies is something of a hidden gem, so try to add them to your library to avoid missing out.

As for the September games line-up, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions is easily the headline pick.

In fact, something we don’t see on PS Plus as often as Xbox Game Pass, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions is actually a day-one release for subscribers.

The hope is that by giving the game away for free (sort of), the multiplayer-centric Quidditch Champions can build up a big playerbase from the off. It’s something that worked successfully for Rocket League, which made its debut as a PS Plus game all the way back in 2015.

Despite having Harry Potter in the title and featuring fan-favourite characters from the books/movies, the Quidditch Champions promotional artwork would suggest that the game is more about creating and customising your own avatar.

The game lets players compete as a Chaser, Seeker, Keeper or Beater, each with their own unique play style. It contains a number of “legendary Quidditch arenas” from the series, as well as new maps that are said to “showcase never-before-seen areas of the wizarding world”.

Quidditch Champions does feature a solo Career Mode, although online co-op and versus modes appear to be where the meat of the game takes place.

Thankfully, Quidditch Champions also makes a significant change to the rules of the “sport” by making the Golden Snitch worth 30 points. Likewise, matches won’t necessarily end when the Snitch is captured, as games are first to 100 points.

Joining Harry Potter Quidditch Champions is Little Nightmares 2, which is a game I’m personally looking forward to playing.

I’ve been convinced Little Nightmares is PS Plus bound for so long that I’ve always resisted the urge to buy it, even during sales. It’s appeared in pretty much every PS Plus predictions article I’ve ever written, so I’m pleased to finally be proven right… even if it did take years!

The original Little Nightmares had a great atmosphere, some solid puzzles and incredibly creepy enemies, so I’m hoping for more of the same.

There’s also never been a better time to play the game, especially with the third game in the series launching in 2025.

MLB The Show 24 is the third and final game coming to PS Plus in September. While I’m personally not that familiar with the ins and outs of modern baseball, these games tend to be pretty well received by fans of the sport.
