Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you’ve missed out on the chance to snap up a sunny escape for an unbelievably cheap price.

Martin Lewis’ team at MoneySavingExpert (MSE) has revealed handy trick that could land you a dream holiday without breaking the bank. And it all comes down to ‘flight finders’.

This includes the likes of Jack’s Flight Club and Holiday Pirates which are among numerous companies to showcase the cheapest travel deals, or even make you aware of ‘error fares’.

The latter refers to glitches or genuine mistakes that cause an airline put their flights on sale for the wrong price. Usually, this is much cheaper than their actual worth. 

“If your travel plans aren’t set in stone and you’re just after a really keenly priced deal, there are a few nifty flight-finding services which can help,” writers at MSE explained. 

“While all work in slightly different ways, they’ll alert you when an airline’s dropped prices on a particular route – and also flag up pricing mistakes or ‘error fares’, which can be mega-cheap.”

Members of Jack’s Flight Club may receive personalised alerts for specific airports and journeys between six and 12 times a week. Impressive £55 returns from Manchester to Mykonos, £366 trips from Edinburgh to New York and even £35 tickets to and from Lapland are among the bargains it has recently offered.

Although its basic services are free, many of these benefits come as part of its ‘Premium Package’ priced at £48 a year, £18 for three months, or £30 for six.

On the flipside, Holiday Pirates predominantly works as a search engine for discounted holiday packages. A seven-day all-inclusive four-star experience in Menorca from £485 per person is among many deals currently listed on the site.

While these are directly purchasable through Holiday Pirates, MSE explained that it may also direct you to the travel firm’s official site for payment. 

If you do happen to bag an error fare through these sites or a similar tool, MSE also cautioned that an airline may cancel it, but they often choose not to.

“Jack’s Flight Club says about 70% of error fares are honoured by airlines, but if you do book one, it recommends waiting about two weeks before booking any non-refundable aspect of your trip, just in case,” MSE said.
