Beautiful beach with white sand and turquoise water dubbed ‘Bali of the UK’ | UK | Travel
Pedn Vounder, a gem on the Cornish coast, boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters and pristine white sands that could easily be mistaken for the more tropical shores.
Nestled beneath the imposing cliffs of Treryn Dinas, this idyllic beach graces the eastern end of Porthcurno Cove.
The breathtaking scenery is a transient wonder though, as it’s only revealed during the fleeting hours of low tide each day.
To reach this coastal paradise, visitors can trek along the bay from Porthcurno Beach when the tide is out or brave a steep descent down the cliff path. It’s a haven for hikers, sun worshippers, and even the occasional naturist.
However, as the tide rises, Pedn Vounder vanishes beneath the waves, its temporary charm lending an air of mystique to those who time their visit perfectly.
Once a hidden treasure, this spot has now become one of Cornwall’s most Instagrammable locations, earning it a place among the world’s top beaches for two consecutive years, reports the Mirror.
Competing with renowned spots like Turquoise Bay in Australia and the Secret Lagoon in the Philippines, Pedn Vounder secured its prestigious spot on the annual ‘ list.
This list compiles scores from various media sources, Blue Flag statuses, social media buzz, and input from the Big 7 Travel editorial team.
Isaac Clams, a travel vlogger, raved about Pedn Vounder on TikTok, dubbing it “the Bali of the UK” and showcasing its remarkable sandbank and stunning vistas.
In a brief TikTok video, taken as he gazed out over the beach with his companion, he stated: “We’ve just arrived at the only sandbank in the whole of the UK”, before letting out a thrilled cry at the stunning coastline beneath them.
Almost all who visit this isolated beach are left awestruck, earning it a perfect five-star rating on Tripadvisor. One visitor lauded it as “the best of Cornwall beaches and one of the best in the world” while another simply labelled it “breathtakingly beautiful”.
